President’s message for 16th Global Meet, January 14, 2018

Dear NITDAA brothers and sisters,

Best wishes to all my NITDAA brothers & sisters and your family and wish you all a happy and prosperous new year 2018. During the year, we intend to further strengthen the foundations of our beloved NITDAA and forge a strong bond with our alma mater – NITD. This, we hope, will bring an unchartered pinnacle of success to both NITD and NITDAA.

We could reach this milestone slowly till 16th. Global Meet. During the last sixteen years, aside from forging the bonds of our friendships anew and extending our helping hands to the NITD fraternity, we have carved a niche for ourselves. Yet, a lot more needs to be done for NITDAA to attain international acclaim. More than ever, we need the active participation of all alumni to help our dreams to come to fruition.

Since last few years, the earlier Committees have been trying to forge a strong bonding with NITD. With the patronage of the Chairman and initiative of the Director, Dean & Associate Dean (Alumni, International Relations & Outreach) have been appointed. The Alumni Association & Deans took initiative to form two committees : A)Faculty - Alumni Committee comprising one faculty from each Department and B) Students Alumni Committee comprising representatives from all Departments with Associate Dean as faculty Advisor.

We have further become a part of the formation of a PAN-NIT Alumni Forum (PNAF). It has already been registered as a Society based in New Delhi. The first Annual General meeting was held in NIT, Trichi during May, 2017 and a new Committee has been formed. It is going to be launched shortly in New Delhi.

While helping individual student or alumni is one side of the game, another very important task is to help the Institute grow professionally and achieve excellence and reach top of the ladder to become best Institute in the country. As part of that NITDAA has re-launched the lecture series –“Beyond the Walls” – to be delivered by the distinguished alumni members from Industry and academia.

It has been suggested that like some other NITs, NITD may introduce Alumni fee of Rs.2,000.00 for the Final year students. As the time did not permit, it was decided that theywill authorize NITD to transfer their respective Caution Money deposits of Rs.1,000.00 to NITDAA against issue of Life Membership. However, steps will be taken to introduce the Alumni fees from the next batch.

I again urge my friends to come forward and lend their valuable support to NITDAA, and extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been contributors to the growth.

Thank You,

Mrinal Kanti Pal
