Silver Jubilee of the ’87 batch

The batch of ’87 will celebrate their silver Jubilee on the 12th January. Professor Gautam Biswas, Director CMERI, has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest. The schedule is given below:

-          Shri Bidyut Datta ’79, Director (Refineries), Bharat Petroleum
 
B. K. Datta, a Chemical Engineer, joined BPCL in August 1979 and has had the distinction of holding key positions in the various functions of the Refinery and of Corporate. 
 
He took over as Director (Refineries) with effect from 1st August 2011.  In his current position, he is responsible for the operations of the Mumbai, Kochi, Joint Ventures and Subsidiary Refineries, R & D, International Trade and Pipelines.  Apart from BPCL, he also serves on the Boards of other BPCL Group and subsidiary companies, namely Numaligarh Refinery, Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd. (BORL) and Bharat PetroResources Ltd. (BPRL).
 
-          Shri Parvesh Minocha ’82, Group Managing Director (Transportation Businesses) & Chairman -Board of Growth & Development (BoG&D), Feedback Infrastructure Services Private Limited
 
A Bachelor in Engineering from REC, Durgapur (West Bengal), Parvesh has over 30 years of rich experience in integrated infrastructure services. 
 
As Managing Director of the Transportation Division at Feedback Infra, he has been responsible for planning, monitoring, quality assurance and timely execution of various large-scale infrastructure projects, including projects in the transportation sector.  In the past, Parvesh has been involved – in his position as the “Engineer”, “Project Director” and “Team Leader” for a number of construction supervision, engineering design, detailed feasibility studies and privatization studies and has worked with reputed organizations like Sunbeam Casting, Timex Watches and Delphi Automotive Systems. He brings a unique blend of skills to projects.  
 
He has been with Feedback Infra for more than 12 years. Under Parvesh's stewardship, the Division has established itself as one of the leading service providers in the fields of highways, electrical T&D projects, SEZs, industrial estates, townships, water/sanitation and other large urban/rural infrastructure projects, to the central government and state government, to Indian and foreign developers, to lenders and many other client segments. 
 
He is a life member of Indian Roads Congress and is on the National Urban Infrastructure Council of CII.
 
 
-          Shri Sumant Bhargavan ‘85, Managing Director, ITC Infotech
 
B.Sumant is Managing Director, ITC Infotech. He is also on the Board of ITC Infotech (USA) Inc. and ITC Infotech Limited., UK.
Sumant has been working with ITC Limited, and its group companies since 1986. In his previous assignment, Sumant was responsible for setting up the snacks business of ITC under the brand name of “Bingo”. He is also on the Board of Technico Pty Limited which specializes in production of Potato Seed Tubers. Sumant has over two decades of experience in ITC spanning Manufacturing, Operations and new business development. 
Sumant holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Regional Engineering College, Durgapur. He is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School, Wharton, Kellogg and the Asian Institute of Management, Manila.
 
-          Shri Sandesh Kirkire ’85, CEO Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Co Ltd
 
Mr. Sandesh Kirkire,  is a Mechanical Engineer, and holds a Masters degree in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai University. Sandesh joined Kotak Mahindra Group in 1994. He has over 22 years of experience in financial services spanning Corporate Finance, Investment Banking and Funds Management. Mr. Kirkire joined Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Ltd. in 1999 as its Chief Investment Officer (Debt) and took over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in May 2005.
 
After passing out from REC Durgapur in 85, Sandesh worked with Permanent Magnets Ltd as a Product Development Engineer for 3 years. He finished his MMS from JBIMS in 1990.
